Enrique Vara uses pictorial codes and symbols to describe the spiritual dimensions that co-exist with our daily lives. The artist brings to light man's instinctive search for meaning beyond the day-glow aestheticism of modern day materialism. By embracing the neon palette of popular culture and applying it with religious care, Vara creates a positive assurance of spiritual purpose within the modern world.
Enrique Vara was born in Madrid 1943 and studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid. He has exhibited primarily with Egam Gallery, Madrid but also with Marlborough Fine Art, Tossan-Tossan Gallery, New York, and Seilerstatte in Vienna. His work can be seen at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Vitoria, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Ibiza and the Museum of the Real Academia, Madrid.
