Situated not far from the city centre on the far bank of the Guadalquivir River, the Feria consists of hundreds of red or green striped casetas (large tents), which are temporarily built on Seville’s characteristic yellow sand, along improvised avenues named after the most famous toreros and illuminated by thousands of paper lanterns at night. Some of these casetas belong to the prominent families of Seville, others to groups of friends, clubs, trade associations or political parties. Although no longer a horse trading fair, it is today the worlds most important parade of vintage carriages, proud riders on exquisite Spanish stallions, elegant amazons (still) in side saddle all dressed in traditional Spanish costumes with characteristic wide brimmed hats, beautiful women, and young girls in colourful Flamenco dresses.

Much more distinguished than any other European festival, the Feria embodies the quintiessence of the Spanish Fiesta.

This fair takes place in El puerto de Santa Maria and is dedicated to sherry wine, over four days over 180,000 half bottles are drunk. It is smaller than the Seville Fair but still has plenty of ambience and character.   

From the 3rd to 21st April there are 19 days of bullfighting in Seville´s  Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería, the oldest bullring in Spain. Some of the best bullfighters of the moment will perform during this festival.

As a stage for bullfighting, it is considered one of the world's most challenging environments because of its history, characteristics, and viewing public, which is considered one of the most unforgiving in all of bullfighting fandom.
